Pupil to Pupil Letters

English Class third graders had a pleasant surprise today when they received letters written to them by eighth grade pupils at Itä-Pori Comprehensive School. The eighth graders chose English as an elective course and letter writing was one aspect of the course.
The third graders were so inspired by the letters they received that they chose to reply straight away by writing letters as homework! One third grade boy wrote his reply letter on a computer and then decorated the text using different coloured highlighters because “it was for a girl”. He also included a photo of himself in his letter.
Getting children motivated to write is not easy. Writing letters is a one very effective, rewarding way. For other ideas to help a child to write, check out this link.
