The mascot of Pori’s Environment Department, JäteVaakku, (Waste Crow) visited our school cafeteria at lunchtime today to check how much our school’s pupils waste by throwing good food away rather than eating it. JäteVaakku was pleasantly surprised to find that there is not much waste at all. That is probably because we have spent the entire school year learning how to take the right sized portions of food. We know that if a food is new or untried, we take a small tasting portion. If it is a food that we know and like, we take a regular sized portion because we know that we can always go back for more.
English Class first graders were so delighted to see JäteVaakku that they wanted to have a couple of group hugs.
